After you have done this, write a 350 – 500 word discussion on something in the visual culture. Do not begin this assignment until you have watched the attached videos, and have a good understanding of what visual culture is.
In one paragraph, mention how the work shows elements of bad design or good design by making a formal analysis of the work. Remember that you should do this by discussing the formal elements and principles of design from Chapter 2.
elements of art include line, shape, color, form, value, space, texture, pattern, volume, time and movement. The principles of composition balance, rhythm, proportion and scale, emphasis, unity and variety.
In another paragraph, discuss whether the work is fine art, popular culture, kitsch or craft and describe why. If work includes elements of gaze or spectacle in the work, be sure to say so and describe how it does this. Be sure to discuss who the article is intended for and why? Is the work globally understood or was it intended for specific niches of culture? How or Why?
Respond to at least one classmate in which you discuss an element or principle that your classmate did not mention OR you may add something new to the conversation from the text or videos that your classmate did not discuss. Your response should be at least 100 – 150 words long.
Be sure to attach an image as .jpg or include a link to the piece of visual culture you are discussing.
